Airport Security - How Safe Are We AFter All?

You can count on airport security to haul people off for packing a neon green squirt gun, or someone who they claim creates a scene and later hangs herself in their handcuff. Yup, they are good at that. But what about terrorism? Are we really as safe as we thought we were? Not so much. They failed to find simulated bombs on undercover agents posing as passenger an astonishing 60% of the time! Who rated the best and the worst? Well, actually, no one rated the best. Does that really surprise anyone?

Screeners at Los Angeles International Airport missed about 75% of simulated explosives and bomb parts that Transportation Security Administration testers hid under their clothes or in carry-on bags at checkpoints. 75%!!!!! What are these people doing with their time? And what are they getting PAID for it???

The Runners Up?

At Chicago O'Hare International Airport, screeners missed about 60% of hidden bomb materials that were packed in everyday carry-ons - including toiletry kits, briefcases and CD players. San Francisco International Airport screeners missed about 20% of the bombs.

I guess if I have to fly in or out of anywhere, it would have to be San Francisco. I still wouldn't feel safe, but maybe MORE safe than I would feel at LAX!

Hmmmm...wonder what Amtrak charges?
